Equipping children for life

King’s School has an extensive range of extracurricular activities to enrich the children’s learning experience. Teacher-led clubs take place at lunchtime, before or after school and mainly focus on the Junior department Key Stage 2.

To widen the range of activities we can offer, we work with specialist teachers and agencies, including Plymouth Argyle in the Community, University of St Mark and St John, Plymouth Raiders and Premier Sports.

The broad range of activities allows children to have the opportunity to try different disciplines and find something that they will really enjoy.

OUTDOOR LEARNING

Outdoor learning and forest school

A big part of our outside educational programme is teamwork, we encourage our pupils to work together in the tasks that we set them, this is great for social development and promoting cooperation.

In Forest School children are taught about fire making and shelter building, at Beach School they learn about rock pools, tidal zones and caring for the environment.

King's School award the Gold LOtC Mark!

King's School is proud to have been awarded the Gold LOtC Mark by CLOtC. This recognises our commitment to providing high-quality learning outside the classroom for our students.

We're so thankful to our amazing staff for working to ensure our children benefit from various types of outside learning.

WRAPAROUND CARE

After-school care

If your hours do not fit with the school day we offer pre- and after-school care.

Children can be dropped off at 7.30am each day. This must be booked and paid one month in advance and is based in the nursery building. Children are walked to the main school at 8am. (Limited number of spaces available each day).

Pre-school care is available from 8am in the main school and does not have to be booked in advance.

After-school care commences from 3.30pm. Children are encouraged to complete homework or take part in an activity, which may include boards games, puzzles or Lego building. A snack tea is provided at an additional cost. After-school care continues until 5.30pm.

Pre- and after-school care is charged on a monthly basis and is an additional cost to termly fees.

Our School Holiday Care Provision

We recognise that the school holidays may be a time when parents need the option of holiday care. We are therefore open from 8am to 5.30pm for those who have pre-booked a space. Holiday Care is only provided for King’s School pupils.

We provide a full and varied programme of activities including sport, crafts, outside play with games, themed days and outings, if numbers allow.
